Joanna has a long list of notable clients including: Kim Kardashian, Phillip Lim, Anna Wintour, Christy Turlington Burns, Cate Blanchett , Kate Winslet, and Uma Thurman so it's safe to say she knows her stuff.

Here, she tells GLAMOUR exactly how to get 'big night out skin' - that coveted sculpted, sparkling best-skin-ever.

Three weeks to go…

The first week is where I can work slightly more on the aggressive side so I can try a deeper exfoliation, and try more acidic peels without risk. I focus on mechanical exfoliation. I’ll do a mild diamond peel, also a lot of LED therapy plus tonnes of massaging' up to 45 minutes' worth. For the massage, I use a lot of environ products, the pre-cleanse oil and clay mask because oils dissolves oil and clay masks detach impurities and hydrated patches.

I’ll do extractions and deal with breakouts and I’ll then pop on the Pumpkin Enzymatic Treatment. It’s targeted and does not dehydrate the skin around it, but dissolves the serum. If there’s swelling, I’ll use cryotherapy or you can literally take an ice cube from the freezer wrapped in a wash cloth or maybe a piece of cotton.

Two weeks to go…

In week two I’m still massaging and still exfoliating, as well as using alternating brightening and hydrating masks. I massage using my Facial Massager.

One week to go…

The last week involves a lot more modeling and ultra sound movements, which are not so invigorating but by then your face is sculpted. I’ve heated the muscles up with a massage and then use cryotherapy to basically seal the muscle into the shape I want.

I do cryotherapy directly on the skin or over sheet masks; the 111Skin masks are great for cryo. Then I'll do 5 minutes of microcurrents with LED and 5 minutes of ultrasound with LED.

Microcurrents target stimulation of the muscles. Using targeted simulation of a muscle using a red LED light stimulates collagen and elastin production and penetrates the product 630 millimetres into the skin. Ultrasound combined with LED light ensure the result of a treatment last for 17 to 28 days; this is why I do it three weeks before because it will leave their skin perfect for the gala, all lifted and firm.

On the day…

On the day of the Met Gala, it’s more about a water-based treatment - super gentle cleanse followed by negative ionisation. Basically it’s super healing and purifying. I have panels that are LED lights and there is negative ionization pouring at the same time.

Clearly Joanna's technique works wonders; scroll down to marvel at the best beauty look from this year's red carpet...
