What Are Frown Lines?

With all of the stress and chaos in our world, you may have noticed the lines in between your eyebrows have grown deeper. Frown lines, also referred to as Glabellar lines, ‘11’ lines and worry lines, develop between the eyebrows into folds. They are the result of the gathering of tissue caused by the repeated action of underlying muscles related to facial expressions.  And they typically show up in our 30’s, deepening with age.

How Can You Treat Them?

While these aging lines are extremely common, there are a variety of ways to soften them non-invasively. Below are our favorite products/devices that you can do in the comfort of your home to lessen their appearance.

The application of toner, a vital step in any skincare regimen, is the first step in treating frown lines. Start by saturating  a cotton pad with a toner of your choice. Using a press-and-release motion on the lines creates an immediate plumping effect, caused by micro-swelling, which also allows the products that follow to be absorbed more efficiently.

The Peptide Enriched Frown Serum by Environ contains a unique combination of three wrinkle-fighting peptides, which help to prevent the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as expression lines, especially in the forehead area. Below are a few of our favorite serums to lessen the appearance of frown lines.

Environ’s Cosmetic Roll-CIT Microneedling Face Roller is another great at-home device. Use once a week gently in a criss-cross motion over the lines. The point of this treatment is to create microchannels to assist with product penetration. Please note:  this tool should not be used on active acne.

Environ’s Cosmetic Focus-CIT Face Needling Stamp is an easy to use, needling stamp embedded with durable 0.2mm stainless steel micro-needles. The Focus-Cit allows you to focus on specific, typically hard-to-reach areas, such as the upper lip and eye area. This works in synergy with the topically applied Environ products to help enhance the overall look and feel of the skin.

Finally, you can use your fingers to massage the frown area  moving perpendicular to the lines, with a pinching movement. This helps to stimulate  blood flow.  And, you can do it multiple times per day, anywhere. For extra help with facial massage, you can use the Joanna Czech Facial Massager.

Because consistency is key, incorporating a practice into your daily routine will garner the most noticeable results.
