Algae are a diverse group of aquatic organisms (which include seaweeds) that have the ability to conduct photosynthesis. They play a key role in many ecosystems, including providing the foundation for the aquatic food chains supporting all fisheries in the oceans and inland, as well as producing about 70 percent of all the air we breathe.

Each type of algae has its own unique properties, but they all contain carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, amino acids, vitamins A, B, C, D, E, and K, as well as high concentrations of zinc, copper, iron, iodine, magnesium, phosphorus, and potassium.

Benefits of Using Algae on Skin

This powerful combination makes algae a great skincare ingredient. Algae are ideal for hydrating, plumping, and toning the skin. They also increase collagen production, balance oil production, reduce puffiness, and soothe redness.

Marine algae contain more minerals than most any other plant. It is one of the most abundant sources of vitamins, minerals and amino acids and works as a purifier, helping to draw out impurities.

Algae is recommended for all skin conditions except for severely acneaic skin.
